TEXTO PARA RECUPERAÇÃO - 1ª SÉRIE MÉDIO

A friend of mine was traveling in the train and opposite him sat a gentleman reading "The Times". Every now and then he took a complete sheet of the newspaper, crumpled it up, opened the window, threw it out and shut the window. After he had done this two or three times my friend said: "Excuse me, sir, but I am most interested in what you are doing. May I ask why you do it?"
"Oh yes", he replied, "it keeps the elephants away."
"But", my friend said, "there aren't any elephants here."
"Of course not", came the answer. "That proves it works!"

TEXTO PARA RECUPERAÇÃO - 2ª SÉRIE MÉDIO

We humans have probed the heart of the atom, unraveled the mysteries of DNA, and glimpsed the edges of space and time. Yet when it comes to understanding life's place in the universe, we are mere children, standing on a beach, staring uncomprehendingly at a vast, inscrutable ocean. Our predicament is not that we know nothing about life; it is rather that nothing we know can be compared with anything anywhere else. Ali the creatures of the earth - from worms to whales - are fundamentally cousins, linked by the same biochemistry, sharing the same planetary home. But is the earth's biosphere the only one there is? So far none of the other planets or moons in our system has been shown to harbor life. However, given the vastness of the universe, the possibilities are endless.

TEXTO PARA RECUPERAÇÃO - 3ª SÉRIE MÉDIO

REASONS FOR LIVING ABROAD
Bob: I wonder why some people leave their native countries to try living in another.
Mary: Sometimes, it's for political reasons, other times, for economic ones.
Tom: Yeah... Or perhaps your job offers you an opportunity of spending some time abroad.
Mary: And, as Brazil has been going through economic and social upheaval, many Brazilians dream of moving to foreign parts to try out a new life.
Bob: Well, I quite agree with you. but I still think that Brazilians sometimes have a distorted view of what life is like abroad and are not prepared for everything they find.
