Personal Pronouns

Os pronomes mais conhecidos são os pronomes pessoais, que em inglês chamamos de Personal Pronouns. Eles são I (eu), you (você), he (ele), she (ela), it (ele/ela/isso), we (nós) e they (eles). Eles vem no lugar dos nomes (substantivos) e são usados como sujeito de uma sentença. Veja os exemplos:

My name is Mairo. I am a teacher.
Meu nome é Mairo. Eu sou um professor.

This is my father. He is a teacher.
Este é meu pai. Ele é um professor.

This is my mother. She is a lawyer.
Esta é minha mãe. Ela é advogada.

I have a blog. It is about English.
Eu tenho um blog. É (meu blog) sobre inglês.

I have a brother and a sister. They are Jorge and Mary.
Eu tenho um irmão e uma irmã. Eles são Jorge e Mary.

You are a student.
Você é um estudante.

My family and I live in a big city. We have an apartment.

Conhecer os pronomes pessoais é de suma importância. Muitos estudantes ainda confundem he com she ou we com they. É preciso saber todos os pronomes naturalmente, na ponta da língua! Outro ponto importante é o pronome it, que significa ela ou ela para objetos e animais, sendo muitas vezes traduzido como “isso”. Ela causa confusão porque não existe em português, onde temos somente “ele” e “ela”.
